WHAT'S A COMMUNITY GROUP?

The simplest way to meet people, actually make friends, and explore faith together

A Typical Group Structure

8 Gatherings

Hey, experiencing actual community means  actually BEING together. Get ready to launch into an 8 week gathering plan with a small group of people designed to break the ice, get to know one another, and grow deeper as a group, together.

8 Topics

Each time you gather, you and your group will explore a topic within an 8 week series focused on faith in the context of your every day life.

4 Questions

Each gathering will introduce a subject, as well as a faith-based thought on the subject, and will pose four (or so) questions for you and your group to discuss together.

1-2 Hours

Each gathering will typically last between 1-2 hours depending on the dynamic of your group.

What a Community Group is not...

...for people who are perfect.

Groups are not for people who’ve never felt awkward, never made a mistake, never accidentally wore mismatched socks, or for people who don’t have any baggage. Rest easy, you’re in good company if you’re not perfect.

...for people who don’t lead busy lives .

Yes, it’s true that you have to be present in order to connect with others. And yes, it’s true that being in community will require you to reconcile the time investment, but missing a week or two during an 8 week period will not disqualify you from being able to participate. Group series are designed to open a unique topic each week, and even allow for late joinees to jump in at any point in the series.

...about fixing each other.

While groups ARE about GROWING together, groups are not about being each others counselors. Groups are meant to be a safe space to open up, give and receive support, and learn from one another’s experience and perspectives.

...just for Bible scholars or “church people”.

Groups are for people of all different walks of life. It doesn’t matter how much Bible knowledge you have, or whether or not you have perfect church attendance, IF ANY. Groups are for anyone wanting to grow as part of a faith-based community.

...a Bible study or Class.

While groups will explore Biblical principles found in scripture, they are designed to be more than a Bible Study, and are definitely not a class. Groups are about exploring real life relationships, challenges, and faith in Jesus within a community of people that you could call friends, as God intended.

Who... Where... When... How?

WHO Leads the Group?

Each group is facilitated by an individual or couple - just regular people with a desire to grow in faith and community with someone like you. Group facilitators are introduced at the start of each new quarter.

WHERE do groups take place?

Each group facilitator selects a location where their group will gather. These locations can be on site at Victory, in someone’s home, or even somewhere like a local cafe.

WHEN do groups take place?

Groups launch an 8 week series four times a year - spring, summer, fall and winter, with a one month break in between. Additionally, the time and day that each individual group gathers during a series is chosen by each individual group’s leader.

HOW do I join a group?

You can join a group by registering for one in Victory’s app or by stopping by the Welcome Center located in Victory’s Main Concourse. Additionally, Community Groups are open! That means that you can join a group even after a group has already started a new series!
