WHAT IS THE BACKPACK PROGRAM?
More than 22 million children receive free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program and the National School Breakfast Program. For many of these children, school meals may be the only meal these children eat each day. SO WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THEY GO HOME FOR THE WEEKEND? We would like to introduce you to the “Backpack Food Program”. Victory Church is partnering with Croghan School to offer children a backpack of non perishable food items for the weekend. As of right now we will be packing backpacks twice monthly.
Please stop by the “Backpack Food Program Item Drop Off" display in the Concourse before any service. This will be an ongoing ministry throughout the school year. If you have any questions please contact Victory Church and ask for Bunny Robles.

FOOD ITEMS USED FOR CROGHAN BACKPACK PROGRAM
To be cost effective and easily transported, most food items have to be distributed as individual serving sizes. For example, a box of oatmeal with individual servings would be acceptable, but an entire container of loose oatmeal would not work. Regular size cans of soup, ravioli, Spaghettios, and veggies are okay; but keep in mind that Elementary age students will be carrying a weekend worth of food home in backpacks, so we don’t want them to be too heavy. In addition, all food items have to be non-perishable and NOT require refrigeration.
Breakfast Foods
Oatmeal packets, cereal (individually sized boxes or packages), cereal bars, fruit & grain bars, Pop Tarts, Tru Moo Milk (Tru Moo is a brand that sells individual cartons that don't have to be refrigerated—located in the juice aisle)
Lunch Foods
Spaghettios, Ravioli, chicken noodle soup, Cup O’ Soup, canned soup/chili/beef stew, Mac-n-cheese (individual serving or small boxes), peanut butter/jelly (regular size plastic jars), fruit cups, applesauce (cups or pouches), vegetables (cans or individual cups—Libby brand has 4-pack individual servings)
Snacks
Popcorn (microwaveable packets), granola bars, Rice Krispy Treat bars, Cheez-its/Cheese Nips, Goldfish crackers, Ritz Bitz (cheese or peanut butter; individual packs), Teddy Grahams, Cheese Dip & Cracker Stick Packets, Cheese & Peanut Butter Cracker packs, Gummy fruit snacks, Fruit Roll-ups, mini cookie packs, Little Debbie’s, Hostess snack cakes, pudding cups, Jello cups, fruit & jello cups, Pretzels (snack size bags)
